This interactive performance illustrated how the music of early African-Americans evolved from work songs and spirituals, and led to blues, jazz, country, and eventually rock. There was thunderous applause for Rock -n- Roll! Ask your children about their favorite part.
I hope you children shared some fun stories about Tony. He was so enthusiastic and had all the children's full attention the whole time. He chose me to be the Queen in one of his stories. The children got a kick out of that and some asked for my autograph on their bookmark. Ask your children about their favorite story that he told.
Our class was spontaneously singing a special Veteran's Day song called Thank You, Oh Thank You!

Today we participated in a "Google Hangout" (Face Time/Skype) with Howe Manning Preschool in Middleton. Mrs Papillo's class joined us and we greeted each other and talked about one of our Global Read A Loud books by Lauren Castillo. The book is called "Yard Sale". It was written by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Lauren Castillo.
The children unanimously said that they would like to do it again soon.
A special Thank you to Mrs. Klipfel for her assistance setting up our first "Google Hangout".
