Today we celebrated Arbor Day out in back of school. The Peabody Family planted a special "Witch Hazel" tree for us and Miss Swanson led us in some wonderful songs! Ask your children to sing them for you.
(videos to come soon)
Many Thanks to The Peabody Family and Miss Swanson!
Our class finished our Folktale unit with Reader's Theater. We presented to some of the siblings classes before and after our April vacation. We worked on using our reading fingers to follow along with everyone's part. They all did a wonderful job using their big voices and using inflection for the different characters. I am having some technical difficulty with the videos, but will hopefully send along soon.
We are talking about "protecting our earth" in Science and the children would like to share things that they did or will do for Earth Day. The following are some ideas the children have already talked about.
Donate toys to the Salvation Army
Spring Clean-up at Church
Ride bike instead of taking car on vacation
Etc....
Please click on the link below to add to our padlet about what your child did or will do for Earth Day.
We worked on building stamina for Writing today. I set the time for 10 minutes of quiet writing and they did if for more. What wonderful writers everyone has become. It has been so exciting to see!
Students were given 10 plastic pags and 1 item of their choosing to make a working jumprope.
brainstorming ideas for 3 minutes
10 minutes to work on making jump rope
Some groups made a working jumprope, some groups were not able to finish. We noticed the same thing when we walked through other Kindergarten and First Grade classes. We will spend a little time in the morning to finish.
