Butterflies

The children were fascinated to observe the Life Cycle of the Butterfly.
1.  Our eggs came in a small, clear, covered cup in the mail.
2.  5 tiny caterpillars grew into big ones.  One of the tiny caterpillars took a long time to get big like the others.
3.  The caterpillars climbed up to the top of the cup.
4.  The caterpillars hung from the top of the cover and made their chrysalis (cocoons).
5.  Finally the butterflies came out.  They just seem to appear.  So Exciting!!
6.  We took the butterflies outside on the field to set free.  On Wednesday, we let 2 go and they flew right up to the sky.  On Thursday, we let another 2 go and they flew low to the ground.  One of the butterflies stayed on Miss Carol's thumb for a little while.  So much fun to watch!!

Exciting News!!!  Our 5th and smallest caterpillar finally turned into a butterfly today.  We will set that one free on Tuesday.
