Walk-a-thon

Lots of laps around the playground.  So much Fun!

Science

Today we made "shade" shelters for animals in our class.  We also went out to see where the sun was at different points in the day.  Some predicted that it would stay where it was and some predicted that it would move.  The sun did move and one of the kids noticed that the shade spots moved as well.

Some finished projects

Some students chose to continue to work on their animal shelters at home.

Science - Energy and the Sun

Last week we did some experiments with sand, soil and rocks (we also did water on Wednesday).  We made predictions about what would happen if we put these things in the sun and shade.  We put themometers in each cup to determine how much the sun (or shade) affected the temperature of each.  Most students did predict that the sand would get the hottest from the sun.

International Dot day

We found out it was International Dot Day today and listened to "The Dot" story on our smart board.  Click on the link below to listen.

The children brought their "Dot" pictures home today.  Lots of wonderfully different creations.

We also listened the The Dot Song below.

Have a wonderful weekend!

First Weeks of Kindergarten

Our class is really settling right into our Kindergarten routines!  The children were very tired last week, but I'm already seeing more stamina with all of them.  We have been very busy getting to know each other with lots of kindergarten activities and lots of friendships are being made.

Looking forward to see you next week for our Open House!

First Day of Kindergarten!

We had a very busy first day of Kindergarten today!

We read First Day Jitters today and talked about how we felt.  Some of the feelings expressed were excited, happy, tired, nervous and scared.

Some of the other things we did today were:
  • tour the school (Office, Cafeteria, Gym, Library, Nurse, Mrs. Willa's Office, Music and more)
  • fire drill (we walked quickly outside and lined up by the trees out front)
  • morning recess (3rd graders from Mrs. Corliss class told us about the playground rules)
  • lunch in the cafeteria and lunch recess
  • classroom games/activities
  • Art with Ms. Duchak
  • and so much more!

Such a great first day of Kindergarten!

Extra Change of Clothes

I have a a pair of gray shorts and underwear without a name.  Please let me know if this is your child's.  Thanks so much!

Boo Hoo Breakfast

We read Miss Bindergarten goes to Kindergarten and went around our circle to introduce ourselves.  We have 20 friends in our class.  I have added the class list with the other information on the top of my blog.
The children listened well when our bus driver talked to them about the rules on the bus.  We sang the Wheels on the Bus and Take me out to the Ball Game!
